Review Widget

The Review Widget is designed to display 1st- and 3rd-party reviews left by your customers. Optionally, it can also display your business’ replies to customer feedback.

First-party reviews are customer feedback provided directly to your business. Third-party reviews are those found on online review site such as Google or Facebook.

The Review Widget – Featuring 1st and 3rd Party Reviews

Review Widget Settings

The Review Widget Setttings page allows you to define many aspects of the Review Widget. To customize the content, display, and options for your general review widget go to Publish > Review Widget and click Settings.

Select which reviews to display

You can choose to display only 1st-party reviews, only 3rd-party reviews or both review types.

1st- & 3rd-party: Display both review types ordered by date. The widget will also display a filter the consumer can use in case they want to sort reviews by source (1st-party, Google, etc.).

  • First-party reviews are marked up with review schema to improve SEO and help you get stars in search results.
  • Select which 3rd-party review sites are shown
  • Select the rating threshold both new 1st- and 3rd-party reviews must meet to be automatically displayed.

Only 1st-party: The widget will display 1st-party reviews only.

  • First-party reviews are marked up with review schema.
  • Select the rating threshold new 1st-party reviews must meet to be automatically displayed.

Only 3rd-party: Show only 3rd-party reviews from the sites you are monitoring in your account.

  • This version of the widget does NOT include review schema. To be compliant with Google’s guidelines for schema, you can’t apply schema to 3rd-party reviews. Doing so would result in duplicate content as they are already marked-up on the sites they originated from.
  • Select which 3rd-party review sites are shown
  • Select the rating threshold new 3rd-party reviews must meet to be automatically displayed.

IMPORTANT: The overall review counts and ratings displayed will vary for each option. This stems from Google’s guidelines on review schema.

Widget Placement

You need to enter the URL of the page where you have placed the review widget. This is needed for Google schema guidelines, especially if you are going to use our Badge Widget or create Tag Widgets. You will also set the text that the link displays for the Badge or Tag Widget by completing the Link Anchor Text field (or using our default of “View Reviews”).

Define Design Options

Review Widget Settings allows you to define the following:

  • Number of reviews shown per page
  • Design style
  • Width by pixels or percentage (For your widget to be fully responsive you will need to choose a percentage value.)
  • Justification
  • Display Feedback Button ON/OFF
  • Display social share buttons per review ON/OFF
  • Display links to review sites ON/OFF
